Ben Nevis is famously at the base of the title mountain, but that doesn't stop this dram from somehow obtaining a fantastic salty base. No, not like Springbank or Talisker, but it's definitely there. Pair that with the rich highland heather and honey Ben Nevis is famous for and you have a thumping dram!
After founding originally in 1825, Ben Nevis has gone through owners, successes, failures and stills like no body before. Currently owned by Japanese whisky giants, Nikka; the distillery is narrowing its targeting to deliver banging single malts for a great price.

Tasting notes
Nose
Real highland character. Dusty oak, orange marmalade, thick punches of toffee and red wine sweetness. Much older than 10
Taste
Slightly drying, but dominated by sweet honey, Christmas cake and fudge. You could stand a spoon in the density of flavour. Hints of bitter chocolate lead toward the finish.
Finish
The finish is very very long but never long enough. Balanced spice, dark chocolate, caramel, the richness lingers and the memory remains.
