More Details

No whiskey is more synonymous with Ireland than Jameson’s. It is the country’s best-selling distiller by some distance and  its various brands can be found in supermarkets and behind bars all over the world. 

Much of this success is down to the incredible creative and technical team behind the scenes and the Whiskey Makers Series has been created to pay tribute to their endeavors.

Distiller’s Safe honours Jameson’s Master Distiller, Brian Nation, and there is no denying it is a fitting tribute. It has been matured in ex-bourbon casks for around 5-6 years which is just long enough for the oak to impart its flavour yet allow the liquid to retain its own unique characteristics. 

The result is a light, floral whiskey with a compelling blend of sweetness, tropical fruit, and a zesty spiciness on the finish. This one benefits from a drop of water to really bring out the full flavor.

Tasting notes

Nose

Floral yet sweet. Plenty of herbs and wild flowers competing with citrus fruit and even some hints of nut. Beneath is a little oak spice and vanilla sweetness.

Taste

Light and refreshing with satsuma, cantaloupe melon, and apricots. An underlying nuttiness is complimented nicely by a gentle heat with cloves and all-spice all in there.

Finish

Short and sharp. Oak spices come to the fore but there are hints of zesty citrus flavours.

A lovely drop

Smooth yet full of flavour. My previous experience with Jameson was limited to the triple distilled and I wondered if this would be materially different. The answer is a definitive “YES”. Price differential not much but an improved drop.
