The James E Pepper brand was a big deal in American whiskey prior to prohibition. After a fallow few years in the latter half of the twentieth century, it is now back. And what a return it has made.
Its founder, James’ grandfather, claimed to have opened the very first Kentucky distillery back in 1776. Hence the name of this brand which is a triumph of modern methods and traditional flavours.
For their 1776 Rye, the James E Pepper team have worked hard to reconstruct the original flavours they would have been producing in their heydays a hundred years ago. The result is a bourbonesque Rye Whiskey packed full of rich fruity flavours and spiciness.
Bottled at 100 percent proof and with no chill filtering, this Rye is perfect either neat or over a little ice. With a beautiful bottle and label design, it is a great addition to any whisky collection and a must for Rye aficionados.
