Inspired by the spice trading routes of old, Opihr Far East fuses tradition with innovative new recipes to create delicious gin. This gin is made using a range of spicy botanicals, including Szechuan peppercorns and Ajwain (also known as Carom, this is a herbaceous spice similar to cumin or caraway). The final product is a traditional London Dry, bolstered by a distinctive warming spice character.
Opihr is produced at the G&J Distillery - the UK’s second largest gin distillery. The gin takes its name from a port mentioned in the Bible, where King Soloman received cargo of “gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.” A pretty far-out shopping list!
With this gin, the name invokes the wealth of spices used in its production. Beautifully designed, with ornate elephants adorning the label, this gin perfectly encapsulates the riches of the old spice routes.
