One of the bestselling distilleries in Scotland, Glenlivet is celebrated for producing a single malt whisky that encapsulates the qualities of Speyside.
At one point, Glenlivet whisky was so popular that other distilleries added the suffix "-Glenlivet" to their names in order to bask in a little of the original distillery's valour. Trademarks and lawyers eventually put a stop to the practice.
Despite its long history, Glenlivet has moved with the times. A recent refit has made it one of the more modern distilleries in Scotland. What hasn't changed, however, is the quality of the single malt produced at The Glenlivet – which has pretty much always been available as a single malt.
They won't have produced many better drams than this one, with "The Archive" a testament to the quality of spirit and cask management on show at the distillery.

The sherry wood influence is clear as day on the nose with fruitcake and maple syrup front and center. There is also a touch of sandalwood incense to be had.
The taste has raisins and nuts as you might expect from the barrel aging as well.
The whisky is sweet for most of the ride but finishes with wood dust and spice.
