In 1969, the Miyagikyo Distillery was established and started distillation and is known to be Nikka's second distillery. The Japanese Distillery contains Coffey Stills which were imported directly from Scotland and installed in the Miyagikyo Distillery in 1999. The signature Miyagiikyo Single Malt has become the expression that best represents Miyagikyo Distillery.
It is classically delicate with floral characteristics. The single malt is matured primarily in ex-Sherry casks. The single-malt is full flavoured and rich. The palate is quite firm and multilayered with liquorice, cinnamon and chocolatey tones. The finish is long and soft, lingering with notes of tobacco, ginger and toasted nuts.
