Found slap bang in the middle of the Highlands, Aberfeldy was established in 1890s by John Jr. and Thomas Dewar, just two miles from where their father, the original John Dewar had been born.
Over 130 years later, the distillery’s spirit was relaunched as part of Dewar’s “Last Great Malts” campaign, hoping to shine a light on the overlooked single malts in their ownership. Aberfeldy is known as one of the sweetest single malts available, and this, their standard bottling, is a great introduction to the distillery’s full bodied style.

A surprisingly bright sherried sultana and orange zest note is a welcome surprise, followed by buttery aromas of custard, hay-like malt and caramelised brown sugar.
A creamy mouthfeel gives way to a core of sweet biscuity malt, accompanied by oily brazil nuts, walnut, peaches, beeswax, vanilla and a little clean woodsmoke.
The citrus of the nose returns in the finish, which is medium length, with persistent malty nuttiness. Warming and sweet, this is a classic Highlander.
