The Corryvreckan Cask Strength whisky from the Ardbeg Distillery is named after the nearby treacherous whirlpool that has sent many ships asunder. With robust use of peat and through a prolonged maturation in both ex-bourbon barrels and French barriques, the resulting whisky is powerful yet nuanced, with equal measures of smoke, salt, sweet and citrusy notes colliding in a whirlpool of contrasting flavours.
