Eirigh Na Greine [pronounced ae-ree ne gray-nyuh] is a Scots Gaelic term meaning ‘Morning Sky’. The distillery notes say this will transport you to the Bunnahabhain pier at sunrise. Well it might, but one thing it definitely offers is an intriguing insight into Bunnahabhain, the Islay distillery that likes to do things differently.
This single malt isn’t dominated by peat smoke as so many Islay’s are. Instead we have a spicy but fruity single malt which has been matured in French Red Wine Casks. Originally launched exclusively for the travel market, it has picked up a cult following among jet-setting whisky aficionados.
Now being made more widely available, it offers an unchilfiltered, naturally colored Islay whisky experience for all. At 46.3% abv, many will prefer this with a little water but the best flavors come when sipping neat while snuggled on the sofa on a warm evening.

Nose
Intense and sweet with a nutty and a spicy aroma that is almost bitter.
Taste
Fruity and thick with apricots and rich dark berries mixing with warming spices, pepper, and toasted nuts and definitely hints of sea salt.
Finish
Smooth, gently-smoky and long.
