The grape-infused gin boom shows no sign of slowing, as Forty Spotted enters the fray with this juicy offering. The star here is Tassie Pinot Noir grapes, known for their full body and fragrant profile. These grapes are crushed and juiced, before being infused with Forty Spotted’s spirit – characterised by Aussie native botanicals such as Tasmanian Pepperberry. The end product? A luscious, sweet and subtly spiced gin.
Effectively created by Four Pillars in 2015, when they released their Bloody Shiraz expression, wine-grape infused gins have become one of the great Australian success stories of recent years. These bottlings show off the world class quality of Aussie grapes, alongside the health of its craft distilling movement.
Lark Distillery, who essentially founded the Australian single malt whisky industry, are no strangers to innovation. It comes as no surprise, then, that they too have created their own gin in this style. The distillery has a long-standing commitment to showcasing local Tasmanian botanicals, this time placing the emphasis on Pinot Noir grapes from the Apple Isle, now considered to be amongst the best in the world.

Immediately assertive, with aromas of stewed plums, grapes and raspberries taking hold. Gin botanicals then arrive in a wave, with cinnamon, pine-like juniper and cracked black pepper complementing the grapes.
Very jammy and rich mouthfeel, with the same dark berries as the nose. Some wine tannins are enhanced by a drying juniper and lemon note, with a little earthy spice and pepper rounding things off.
