A delicious, heavily Sherried single malt from the esteemed Highlander, GlenDronach. This dram has been matured in a combination of Oloroso and PX Sherry casks, resulting in a whisky rich in the ripe fruits and spices that have become the distillery's hallmark. One of our very favourite drops here at Whisky Loot.
More Details
GlenDronach distillery is tucked just inside the Highland region, found a little to the east of the Speyside border. Dating back to 1826, the distillery has had a mixed history, including fires, bankruptcies and periods of closure. These days it's back to it's best, producing some of the most flavoursome whisky on the market.
Known for its Sherried single malts, GlenDronach's spirit is typified by a sweet, fruity and spicy style. The whisky has a distinct weight, in part created by the unusual shape of its stills.
This 12 year old dram is a terrific introduction to GlenDronach, and one that all fans of Sherry cask whisky must try.

Tasting notes
Nose
Rich and inviting, with warming aromas of sultanas, sliced plums, sticky dates and a little vanilla oak. Fresh ginger, cinnamon and ground cloves add spicy complexity.
Taste
Full bodied, with a luscious mouthfeel. Some orchard fruit emerges on the palate, alongside the same dried fruits of the nose, and an extra helping of red berries.
Finish
A long finish featuring touches of drying oak, toasted nuts, malty sweetness and a little bittersweet orange marmalade.
