Signet is one of the most fascinating and delicious whiskies in Glenmorangie’s acclaimed range. This dram is produced with two kinds of malted barley: a single estate barley from 440 acre Cadboll Estate, found close to the distillery, and a “Chocolate” malt barley – usually found in craft beers! The result is a truly remarkable, luscious and decadent dram.

This whisky was described by Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie’s Director of Distilling, as the result of a “lifetime of experimentation and innovation”.
With so much focus on casks and finishing, it sometimes feels like barley is the forgotten element in whisky-making. This dram illustrates how much of a difference different strains can make. Chocolate malt barley has truly added another layer of flavour and complexity to Glenmorangie’s high quality Highland spirit, showcasing
Beautifully presented, Signet looks as good as it tastes, with the label design taken from the Hilton of Cadboll Stone, a nearby artefact that dates back to the 9th century.

Tasting notes
Nose
Immediately, there’s aromas of chocolate covered peanuts and raisins, joined by freshly buttered toast, marmalade, vanilla and spicy oak.
Taste
A full, syrupy mouthfeel brings flavours of chocolate orange, hot cross buns, coffee beans, dates, gentle honeysuckle and rich polished wood.
Finish
Long, lingering and quite drying, with very dark chocolate, black pepper, cigar box and tobacco leaf.
