Distilled on the windswept shore of Islay in 2016, this luminous dram is the limited release 2021 Edition Madeira Cask matured whisky from Kilchoman, Islay’s farm distillery. Aged for a little over five years in 46 fresh Madeira hogsheads, this youthful whisky has complexity beyond its years. Founded in 2005, Kilchoman brings a refreshing take on the traditional Islay style with rounded creamy and zesty citrus notes that are superbly developed in the Madeira fortified wine casks.

Tasting notes
Nose
Inviting aromas of salted toffee, flamed orange zest and plum wine contrasted with notes of burnt toast, smoked meats and saline solution, all couched in a deliciously sweet smokiness.
Taste
Tropical fruit flavours of blood orange, nectarine and passion fruit up front, leading to notes of blackcurrant, sour cherries and smokey dark chocolate. Hints of oxidised Madeira wine develop in harmony with balanced salt and peat.
Finish
A long and delicious salty and smokey finish with a recurring oxidative note of aged fortified wine and the persistence of bushfire smoke. A rare and exceptional whisky of guile and nuance.
