Japan's Nikka is predominantly from corn using one of their continuous Coffey stills. Sweetness and depth are imparted as a result of these unique stills. The whisky remains a hard to find drop in Australia, imported directly.

The Nikka Coffey Grain encapsulates an often overlooked whisky style. Single Grains, often exclusively used for blends take centre stage here. Utilising the unique Coffey style still to create a dangerously mellow spirit with a solid 45%
This Grain Whisky is distilled in a “Coffey still”, which is a very traditional and rare patent still Nikka imported from Scotland in 1963. The Coffey still produces a complex whisky with a mellow and sweet taste originating from the grain itself.

Tasting notes
Nose
The first pass gives vanilla ice cream, sweet peaches and caramel pear. Balanced by a second pass of biscuity shortbread and some classic Japanese floral hints.
Taste
The palate is fat, there is toffee, vanilla more biscuits and a thick syrup quality. Balanced out by soft raspberry and a fruit salad flavour.
Finish
Ends with more of that ultimate smoothness, with the entire palate stretching on. With one slightly acidic addition to give that gentle crisp mouth feel.
