This sunny, brightly packaged offering is a blended Japanese whisky from the powerhouse Nikka company. Containing malt whisky from both their Miyagikyo and Yoichi distilleries, this dram is rounded out with some lighter grain spirit to maintain balance and tie the malts together. Days takes its name from the idea that this whisky can be enjoyed on any given casual day – not just on special occasions.

Japan is famed for its world-class bartending culture, and in particular, for whisky highballs. This is a bottling that would clearly appeal to that market, perfect for enjoying neat, on the rocks or in a classic highball cocktail. A very faint peatiness gives Nikka Days a little complexity and character.

Tasting notes
Nose
Fresh apples and pears are joined by lemon zest, orange peel and delicate sweet cereals.
Taste
Light bodied and approachable, with creamy vanilla, toffee’d malt, salted caramel, more citrus rind, very slight peat smoke and bright, slightly acidic, apple juice.
Finish
Medium, and quite consistent, with lemon zest, dried flowers, subtle pepper, a little oak and sweet grains.
