A rustic and powerful Bourbon from the Willett Whiskey Company. This is a small batch expression, said to contain some spirit that has matured for over 20 years in new American oak barrels. It’s also thought to be a blend of different styles of Bourbon, including some higher rye and wheated expressions. The end product is a complex and fully flavoured American whiskey.
This Bourbon certainly looks the part, with its old-timey label featuring a waterwheel, and an overall handmade "feel" that takes us back to the days of yore.
Luckily for us, it tastes the part too! This small batch dram has been produced by the Willett Distillery, in Bardstown, Kentucky. The Willett family, who have been involved in whiskey-making since 1936, know a thing or two about putting together a delicious Bourbon, as this bottling shows.
At Cask Strength, this is a feiry, intense dram that offers a pure flavour of Kentucky Bourbon!

An intense nose, which delivers somewhat heady aromas of thick molasses, treacle tart and vanilla, followed by a wave of toasted spices: allspice, pepper and cloves.
Full bodied and spicy here too, with the heat subsiding to reveal mint, stem ginger, dark honey, some leather, sweet oak, rye and fresh bread.
Long, with spice taking hold again, alongside some lasting flavours of oily nuts, dark chocolate, a little red apple and vivid oak.
