Paul John Select Cask series represents the best barrels from the distillery. To truly appreciate each drop, they're released at cask strength (we like that). The peated expression emphasises the best parts of peaty Scotch, but twists a unique flavour palate onto it which must be experienced!
More Details
The Distillery entered the single malt scene in 2008 as a ‘pet project’ that like Amrut before it, has quickly gained worldwide attention.
Distiller Michael John employs local ingredients, although, the peated releases source peated malt from Scotland. Because of the hot Goa climate, the spirit ages with extreme speed with much of the spirit lost within 6 years to the fabled angels. What remains is an artful, balanced whisky comparable to much of Scotland's 20+ aged expressions.

Tasting notes
Nose
Brown sugared BBQ, but in the best kind of way. Enormous collection of flavours. Oatmeal biscuits, tree sap, fruit cake and dense dark fruits. Smoky, but not overpowering, like earthy smoke forced through a sweet filter. And finally teasing off with a menthol character.
Taste
More brown sugar, more fruit, more spice. Balanced by the returning complex earthy peat. Figs, plums and prunes. Some may benefit from adding water to reveal more sugared notes, as it can be mouth wateringly sharp. Sweet entry leads into balanced pepper and fisherman’s friend.
Finish
Picking up where the tastes left off. It develops into liquorice, dried figs and creamy malt. Peat lingers for minutes after. So dense with character, this section would be half a page if I could cover it all. Heavenly
