Here, we have a blockbuster sherried malt from the infamous Glenlivet Distillery. Signatory Vintage has a reputation for “never picking a bad barrel”, and this bottling has received high praise from many esteemed reviewers. The spirit has been aged for its entire 14 years in a single first-fill sherry butt and bottled at natural cask strength with no adulteration. A dram that genuinely delivers the goods.
More Details
One of the most historic distilleries in Scotland, the Glenlivet was the first distillery in the Highlands (as Speyside was at the time) to receive a distilling licence, way back in 1824.
The act enraged the local illicit distillers, to the point where George Smith (Glenlivet’s first distiller) carried a pair of pistols for his protection.
These days, things are a lot calmer at the Glenlivet Distillery, which is now home to one of the most popular single malt brands in the world. Indeed, the distillery’s popularity was so high, that at one point other producers in Speyside added the suffix “Glenlivet” to their spirit, to suggest a similar quality and style, until lawsuits put a stop to the practice.
Glenlivet’s whisky is known for having a lighter, floral and fruity profile with notes of apple, pear and pineapple often prominent.

Tasting notes
Nose
Dried dark fruits of plum, fig and raisins combined with honey sweetness and hints of orchard fruits. Toasty oak spices sit nicely and balance the fruity notes.
Taste
Chocolate sponge cake, clotted cream and stemmed ginger notes come first. Then there is a big burst of old Sherry wood, powdered cloves and subtle liquorice.
Finish
Plenty more dried dark fruits notes are joined by flavours of tobacco leaf, cocoa and oak tannins on this long finish.
