Living la Dolce Vita? With this limited edition dram, you will be. An excellent single malt whisky from prolific producers Starward. The whisky is made with Australian malted barley and brewer’s yeast, before being matured in Australian red wine barrels. The spirit is then transferred to dessert wine barrels, with the wine made in the Sicilian style. A sweeter take on Starward’s classic wine-cask spirit.

Since their foundation back in 2007, Starward have built a reputation for producing excellent, and rather experimental, single malt Australian whisky.
Whether it be ginger beer casks, or partnering with local cider-makers to produce a delicious pear brandy, Starward are a distillery that do things differently. They are not located in a misty glen or a sunbaked field, but rather in the post-industrial landscape of Port Melbourne and their attitude towards flavour reflects their food-crazy hometown.
Starward produce high quality single malts that can be enjoyed alongside the best that Scotland, Japan and Tasmania have to offer. But they also make whisky that’s perfect for pairing with food or mixing into cocktails.

Tasting notes
Nose
The luxury hot chocolate experience: toasted marshmallows, brown sugar and dark chocolate aromas rise from the glass. With time, decadent nutmeg and raisins come through.
Taste
A big, syrupy mouthfeel offers flavours of cola bottle lollies, sultanas, more dark chocolate – here fudgy and thick with the same marshmallow flavour present in the nose.
Finish
Long, and bringing with it a touch of cinnamon spice, wine tannins and oily orange rind. This dram could easily have been saccharine, but maintains perfect balance.
