The latest iteration of Japan’s most highly awarded blended whisky, Hibiki.
Hibiki first hit the shelves in 1989 to celebrate the Suntory company’s 90th birthday. It’s said that during the production process, Hibiki’s Master Blender tastes more than 300 samples a day (a tough job)!
The same meticulous approach is reflected by the bottle design, with the 24 “panes” of the bottle corresponding to the 24 phases of the Japanese Lunar Calendar. The purple accent on the decanter’s neck is also significant, as purple is Japan’s imperial colour, associated with nobility.
Hibiki Harmony is aptly named, with the whisky’s title describing its contents – a well balanced marriage of malt and grain spirits.

A complex and multi-layered nose, with aromas of redcurrants, raspberries, luscious vanilla, coconut flakes, plums, dark floral honey and toasted cereal grains.
Light and approachable, with gentle flavours of light malt, sweet grain, coconut and vanilla, giving way to thicker notes of plum wine, sticky dates, chocolate and toffee.
Medium length, offering lingering notes of sweet malt, red berries, orange rind and black pepper. Hibiki translates roughly as “Echo”, and these flavours certainly resonate.
