A delicious Irish single pot still whiskey from Midleton Distillery – the same distillery behind global powerhouse brand, Jameson. This style of whiskey is made from a recipe of malted and unmalted barley, distinguishing it from single malts. The dram has been aged for 15 years and shows some signs of Sherry-cask maturation, producing a lush and decadent final product. Irish whiskey of a stellar quality.
Redbreast is a historic brand in Ireland, dating back to the early 20th century, having been created using spirit from John Jameson’s original Dublin distillery.
Associated with the W & A Gibley bottlers, production of Redbreast was brought in-house when Irish Distillers purchased the brand in the mid-1980s. It was fully relaunched in its modern form in 1991, with the range expanding in recent years to include delightful expressions such as this high quality Sherried offering.
Redbreast is so named because a Gibley’s chairman was apparently a keen twitcher (birdwatcher), and saw a connection between this dram’s ruby red colour, and the plumage of the European robin.
This 15 year old bottling is one of the finest in their range - showcasing a firm, muscular spirit enriched with fruits and spices.

Aromas of freshly grated citrus zest and some thicker notes of marmalade open the nose, underpinned by Sherried oak, vanilla, nutmeg and a little grassy grain.
Full on the palate, with spicier flavours of cracked black pepper, cinnamon and vanilla-oak coming to the fore. Rich notes of toffee, cooked apples, pears and plums emerge later.
Medium-length, and featuring lingering flavours of raisins, figs, drying oak, slight wine tannins, and classic Irish pot still grassy barley. A touch of marzipan rounds things out.
