The North British Distillery was established in 1885, two years later the distillery began trading in Edinburgh. The North British Distillery has become one of Scotland's oldest and largest grain whisky producers. In 1888, the distillery produced one and a half million gallons of proof spirit. Today, North British Distillery can produce the same volume in as little as five weeks.
The significant amount of quantities the North British Distillery produces means they utilised in many well-known blended brands. Whisky from North British appears in blends such as Johnnie Walker Black Label, J&B Rare and The Famous Grouse. The signature North British 12-Year-Old is rather light in colour. It expresses notes of soft vanilla, fresh linen and a touch of a banana skin. On the palate there is melon, granola and a burst of vanilla, finishing off with lemon peels. A youthful, yet creamy expression.
