This Kujira Ryukyu whisky is an exquisite example of the local style of Awamori from the region of Okinawa, made by the Masahiro Distillery. Traditionally fermented with black Kojii, this non-chill filtered whisky is aged in virgin white oak casks for 10 years in the sub-tropical marine environment of Japan’s southernmost Islands, accelerating the maturation process and creating complex acidic and delicate sweet oak flavours.

Tasting notes
Nose
Deep and sweet aromas of raw honey and dark toffee, sticky rice pudding, well-integrated oak and hints of vanilla and star anise.
Taste
Initial burst of sweet candy corn, crème caramel, developing notes of mocha, liquorice allsorts, with lively acidity and spiced oak.
Finish
A medium length finish with lingering sweet oak that dries out into pleasant notes of nutmeg and clove
