Milk & Honey Apex Pomegranate Wine Cask Finish Cask Strength Single Malt Israeli Whisky (700mL)

An incrediblly unique single malt from Israel’s first whisky distillery.

Milk and Honey was only set up in 2014, but their determination to go global has seen them garner much attention from the whisky community. It is located in Tel Aviv, where temperatures can go as high as 40 degrees. Meaning that while the whisky is relatively young, it tastes much more mature than its age dictates.

Master Distiller, Tomer Goren, specifically selects exceptional casks for each batch of the APEX Series, with some very unusual barrels often making the grade. This edition is the first and only single malt in the world ever to be finished in fortified style pomegranate wine casks. The dram started out its life in ex-Bourbon casks before a finishing period of six months in the pomegranate wine barrels.

This expression is unique, yet still classically Milk & Honey in its DNA. There is plenty of oak and spice competing with sharp fruits and vanilla sweetness. A little water brings the best out of this whisky, which already suggests Milk and Honey, and the Israeli whisky industry has a bright future.
