One of the flagship bottlings from this venerable Speyside distillery. This bottling has been matured in a combination of American and European oak Sherry casks, with the scales slightly tipped in favour of the American oak. The result is a classic Macallan dram, with a sweet spicy and fruity profile.
More Details
Macallan shocked the whisky world in 2012 when it replaced many of its age statement whiskies with the non-age-stated 1824 series. They have since performed an about turn, revamping their range and adding new bottlings that placed the emphasis back on the Macallan hallmarks: age statements and high quality Sherry casks.
This bottling sits in between two other Macallan 12 year olds: the Triple Cask “Fine Oak” which has a more restrained Sherry influence, and the “Sherry Oak” – which has been matured entirely in Spanish Sherry casks for old school Macallan richness.

Nose
A creamy start, with complex notes of vanilla and citrus accompanied by nutmeg and earthy tones.
Taste
Medium balanced with fruit, oak and spice coming through in the form nuttiness of cinnamon and toasted almonds.
Finish
Long with sweet dried fruits, a solid oak note with a tannic spice finish.
