A beautiful Port cask single malt from Glenmorangie. This dram is initially aged in former Bourbon barrels, before a finishing period in ruby Port “pipes”, imparting a rich, fruity sweetness to this whisky. The bottling takes its name from both Portuguese and Scots Gaelic: with “Quinta” the local word given to a Port vineyard, whilst “Ruban” is Gaelic for Ruby – a fitting description for this crimson offering.

Found in the North-Eastern Highlands, just “around the corner” from Speyside, Glenmorangie is known for two things: its incredibly tall stills, and its pioneering work with cask finishing whiskies.
The tall stills of Glenmo' are what gives the whisky its distinctive floral, high toned, and slightly drying cereal qualities. As a result, Glenmorangie’s spirit is light in body, yet very characterful.
With their casks, the distillery has extremely strict criteria, using American oak that has grown slowly on north-facing slopes in Missouri, before being cut and “air seasoned”. They apply these exacting standards to their wine casks too, as shown by the quality of this Port cask finished dram.

Dark mint chocolate, tangerines and Seville oranges mingle with sandalwood and walnut before giving way to a spicy finish of pepper and nutmeg.

Mint chocolate and walnuts envelop the palate like velvet, laying the foundations for rose, Turkish delight and sweet Seville oranges.
Finish
Long lasting silky aftertaste leaving dark chocolate mints and traces of orange.
