$119.00Nectar D'Or takes its name from the French word for gold – a reference to both the whisky’s quality, and the provenance of its casks. The spirit has been finished for a time in barrels that previously held Sauternes – a sweet French dessert wine from Bordeaux, known for its richness and golden hue. Here, the wine casks impart delightful, bright fruit flavours to the spirit, enhancing Glenmorangie’s naturally floral malt.

Glenmorangie Distillery has an well-earned reputation for innovating the field of cask maturation. The distillery goes to enormous lengths to procure high quality oak barrels for their spirit. Nectar D'Or illustrates this fact, with Sauternes casks some of the most expensive and difficult to source in the world.
Glenmorangie is also renowned for the light, floral quality of its spirit – a result of extremely tall and long-necked stills. For many years, Glenmo' (as it is popularly known) was the best-selling single malt in its home country, where people know a thing or two about whisky!

Tasting notes
Nose
Opens with delicate aromas of light dried apricots, alongside a wave of white grapes, golden syrup, sugared lemon rind, vanilla and fragrant oak.
Taste
A full, somewhat syrupy mouthfeel brings flavours of light vanilla custard, caramel and sponge cake. Peppery oak, lemon rind and grapefruit juice adds balance.
Finish
Long, sweet and spicy, with a satisfying dessert-wine profile of dried fruits lingering long on the palate. The perfect after-dinner dram!
