Glenfarclas distillery is probably the best-known in Speyside and one of the most successful family-owned distilleries in Scotland ever. It was officially established by Robert Hay in 1836 and was bought by John Grant in 1865. Until now, it is still owned and being managed by his family. Their range of single malts is wide and lasts from 10 year-old whiskies to a 50-year-old release. Glenfarclas whiskies are known for being full-bodied ‘Sherry Bombs’ with aromas of dried fruits, honeycomb, light peat, nuts, and marzipan.
