Founded in 1815 by John McDougall, the Ardbeg distillery stands as one of Islay's smokiest whiskies, renowned equally for its delightful sweetness, dubbed 'the peaty paradox'. The Ardbeg Ten, Uigeadail, and Corryvreckan are the core ranges. The 'Ten' derives its name from its age, while Uigeadail pays homage to Loch Uigeadail, the water source of the distillery. Ardbeg's accolades include Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2008 awarding the Ten Years Old expression both 2008 World Whisky of the Year and Scotch Single Malt of the Year titles, cementing its status in the international spirits community.
