Situated on the south coast of Islay, Lagavulin is known for whiskies with a range of personalities. With their distilling process, Lagavuloin runs the stills very full, to reduce the copper contact with the soon to be whisky. This creates the versatile and weighty spirit that Lagavulin is known for.

Maturation is largely in bourbon casks, with a few ex-sherry casks utilised for some of Lagavulin's older whiskies.
